The 2019 World Archery Youth Championships took place in Madrid, Spain from the 17th to the 23rd of August. The U.S. and Russia competed against each other in the compound cadet women’s team gold final. It was an exciting match with a thrilling conclusion. Team USA ultimately won the gold medal, defeating Russia by 8 points.
Team USA had an impressive journey to the gold medal match in Madrid. They defeated India in the quarterfinals, Russia U-17 in the semifinals, and Italy in the round of 16. In the preliminary stages, the U.S. finished first in their qualifying group, ahead of Italy and Austria.
The U.S. compound cadet team was comprised of four members: Adriana Sussman, Emma Celini, Kayla Harrison, and Alexandria McEldowney. All four members put in a strong performance during the final match against Russia.
Adriana Sussman was the star of the team, she scored an impressive 288 out of a possible 300 points. Emma Celini, Alex McEldowney, and Kayla Harrison also performed well with scores of 281, 264, and 284 respectively.
The U.S. team impressed the crowd with their excellent shot placement and their impressive overall composure. The team’s total score of 1137 was good enough to secure their first gold medal at the 2019 World Archery Youth Championships.
The U.S. team’s gold medal is a well-deserved victory, and a sign of the team’s hard work and dedication to the sport. The team displayed excellent focus and composure throughout the tournament, and this was shown in their impressive win over Russia. It is clear that the U.S. has a bright future in international archery and the team’s gold medal is just the beginning.
The U.S. team will be looking to defend their title at the 2020 World Archery Youth Championships and continue their success in the sport. The entire team is extremely proud of their accomplishment and the long hours of practice they put in to get to this point. Congratulations to Team USA!
