Measuring Your Draw Length
Step 1: Stand in Your Unstrung Position
- Stand in the position that you will adopt when shooting your bow.
- Place your feet in a comfortable position about shoulder-width apart, with your dominant side a few inches ahead of your non-dominant side.
- Turn your body about a quarter turn towards your target.
- Draw your shoulders back and slightly downwards. Your shoulder blades should be slightly pinched together.
Step 2: Measure Your Draw Length
- Extend your dominant arm fully out at shoulder height, keeping it parallel to the ground.
- Hold the end of a measuring tape at the corner of your mouth and extend it to your wrist joint.
- Measure the distance between your corner of your mouth and your wrist joint (in inches) This distance is your Draw Length.
Your draw length is essential to getting the most accurate and consistent shots from your compound bow.
