Choosing the Right Arrow
Choosing the right arrow for the SAS Siege Compound Bow is vital to achieving an accurate shot. For novice archers, the choice of arrows can be overwhelming, as there are so many brands and sizes to choose from. It’s important to make sure the arrows are of the correct length and weight for the bow, as an improperly matched arrow can cause the bow to be inaccurate at best, and dangerous at worst. Before shooting, make sure to double-check the size and weight of the arrow compared to the specifications of the bow.
Attaching the Arrow
Attaching the arrow to the SAS Siege Compound Bow can seem like a tricky skill to master, but it doesn’t have to be. Once the correct arrow is selected, the next step is to make sure it is properly mounted on the bow. Start by placing the nock on the bow string, then slide the arrow back until it’s seated at the throat of the grip. When the arrow is secured to the bow, the nock should point in a slightly upward angle when the bow is held in a shooting position.
Grip and Grip Pressure
The proper grip pressure and form on the SAS Siege Compound Bow is essential for a successful shot. When gripping the bow, keep the little finger of the bow arm firmly tucked into the grip, and slightly rotate the grip. This will help ensure that the pressure is evenly distributed on the bow. Make sure to keep a light but firm grip on the bow, as gripping the bow too tightly can lead to an unsteady shot.
Draw Length and Draw Weight
The SAS Siege Compound Bow is adjustable to accommodate different draw lengths and draw weights. Before shooting, make sure the draw weight is set according to the archer’s strength. Typically, draw lengths should be set for shoulder width apart with elbows slightly bent in a comfortable position. Everywhere from 6-31 inches is considered a valid draw length depending on the size and strength of the archer.
Draw and Aim
Once the arrow is attached, held, and the draw length is set, it’s time to draw and aim. Start by drawing the string upwards until the draw length is met. Once the arrow is fully drawn, observe the movements to make sure the marker on the bow string is still visible. Then, realize that the time of draw should last no more than two seconds. Once the aim is achieved and the bow string is drawn back, hold the shot for a moment, making sure there is no movement before releasing the bow string.
Releasing the SAS Siege Compound Bow for the first time is a huge milestone for any archer, and having the right grip, arrows, and settings make all the difference. With the right steps and techniques, the SAS Siege Compound Bow can provide a great introduction to the world of archery, for both new and experienced archers alike. Once the basics are mastered, it’s time to expand the archery skills with a greater range and power from the SAS Siege Compound Bow.
In conclusion, shooting the SAS Siege Compound Bow for the first time can be a great and intimidating experience, but with the right preparation and the right gear, hitting the bullseye is only a few steps away!
SAS Siege Compound Bow – First Shots
Finally had a chance to take some first shots with my SAS Siege Compound Bow after the shelter in place. I need to adjust my sight, but pretty happy with the bow! No peep sight, no release. I am planning on learning with this bow and then switching over to recurve. Footage taken at the Discovery Park Archery Range in Sacramento, California.
