Let-off is an important factor for proper bow shooting and archery performance. It is the amount of draw weight reduction at the end of the draw cycle once the arrow is fired. Let-off is described by a percentage, ranging from 0 to 100. High let-off bows have higher percentages and low let-off bows have lower percentages. Deciding between high and low let off can be a difficult thing, so let’s explore further.

High or Low Let-Off?
High Let-Off
High let-off bows have draw weights that decrease significantly after a certain point during the draw cycle. This can be a great feature if you are just starting out making adjustments to your draw length. High let-offs provide more draw length flexibility and growing room, making them easier and more comfortable to draw for longer periods of time. High let-offs are especially great for smaller archers who may need to make more frequent draw length adjustments.
Low Let-Off
Low let-off bows do not have as much draw weight reduction as the high let-off bows, although the draw weight stays pretty consistent throughout the draw cycle. This makes it easier to maintain proper form and shooting form while hunting or practicing. Low let-off bows are also better for seasoned archers who have a good grasp of both their basic form and are looking to increase their accuracy and consistency through proper arrow placement.
Considerations
No matter which let-off you choose, it is important to make sure your bow is correctly set up, with the right draw weight for your shooting form. Additionally, your bow needs to be suited to your size and strength. Otherwise, you could be risking your safety, accuracy, and performance.
If you are just starting out or shooting recreationally, a high let-off bow could be a great choice. If you are an experienced hunter or looking to take your archery to the next level, it might be best to opt for a low let-off bow that can help you reach your accuracy goals.
In conclusion, there is no one size fits all when it comes to let-off. Everyone has their own preferences and it is important to find the best fit for your form and goals. Whether you choose a high let-off or a low let-off bow, it is important to make sure you are properly set up and equipped to handle your bow.
