How to Build a Budget Target Compound Bow
Step 1: Gather Your Parts
You will need a number of parts in order to build a budget target compound bow. Some of the most important parts include:
- Riser: This is the core of your bow and is responsible for providing the necessary stability and accuracy when shooting.
- Limbs: Limbs serve as the main support for the bow and are likely the most expensive part of the build.
- Cams and String: The cams and string are responsible for providing the necessary power and accuracy when you shoot.
- Grip: The grip provides comfort for your hand when shooting and should be comfortable to hold.
- Rest and Sights: The rest is an important part of the bow as it holds the arrow in place when shooting and helps maintain accuracy. Sights help the shooter aim and can also be important for accuracy.
Step 2: Assemble Your Parts
Once you have all of the necessary parts for your build, you can begin to assemble them. Start by attaching the limbs to the riser and make sure they are securely fastened. Next, secure the cams and string onto the riser and make sure they are in the correct position. After that, attach the grip to the riser and the rest and/or sights to the upper limb. Finally, attach the arrow rest to the lower limb and make sure it is in the correct position.
Step 3: Tune and Test Your Bow
Once you have assembled all of the parts, you will need to tune and test the bow to make sure it is shooting properly and accurately. Start by shooting a few arrows to ensure that the bow is drawing and shooting correctly. Once that has been evaluated, you can start making adjustments to the cams and string to tune the bow for increased accuracy. Finally, once you have the bow adjusted and tuned, you can start shooting more arrows through it to set the final tune and accuracy.
