The annual Vegas Shoot is the most prestigious indoor archery tournament in the world and the Compound Women’s Championship Shootdown has become a highly anticipated event over the last few years. Boasting a star-studded field of archers and a big prize fund, the Vegas Shoot 2019 was one of the most exciting ever.
The 2019 Vegas Shoot took place at the South Point Hotel Casino & Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada between February 15th and 17th. Over a thousand archers from around the world took part in the different competitions, and the event was broadcast live on the internet. The competition for the compound women’s category was especially competitive, with some of the top archers in the world vying for the title of Vegas Shoot 2019 Compound Women’s Champion.

Qualifying
The Vegas Shoot is a two-stage event, beginning with a qualifying round to determine the top 64 archers who will go through to the shootout stage. The format for the qualifying round varies each year, but for 2019 it consisted of shooting six arrows at two distances on two separate target faces. After the qualifiers were completed, the top 64 archers in the compound women’s category moved on to the next stage.
Shootout Stage
The shootout stage was the real highlight of the competition. The top 64 archers faced off in a knock-out tournament to determine the Vegas Shoot 2019 Compound Women’s Champion. The format of the shootouts changed each round, with different rules and time limits, adding a dimension of excitement and unpredictability to the proceedings. The archers faced off in a series of one-on-one matches, with the winner of each match advancing to the next round until a final four remained.
Finals
The final four archers, Paige Pearce (USA), Crystal Gauvin (Canada), Ana Lago (Spain) and Kelsey Ann Kerr (Australia) faced off in a thrilling finale to decide the champion. After multiple rounds of intense competition, Paige emerged victorious to take home the title of Vegas Shoot 2019 Compound Women’s Champion.
Awards
In addition to the main title, Paige also won the award for Most Outstanding Performance in the Women’s Division. The other awards presented on the day included:
- Women’s Veteran Division: Ellie Osborn (USA)
- Women’s Age Group Division: Andrea Gales (USA)
- Women’s Bowhunter Division: Mia Dvorak (USA)
The Vegas Shoot is considered by many to be the pinnacle of indoor archery tournaments, and this year’s event was just as exciting and competitive as ever. Paige’s victory was a well-deserved reward for her years of hard work and dedication, and she will no doubt be back to defend her title in 2020.
