Whether you’re a novice archer who wants to improve his or her skills or an experienced hunter for whom every shot counts, there are two pieces of archery gear that can make a huge difference — a release aid and a fidget spinner. While both pieces of gear can be expensive to buy, you can make your own DIY PVC archery releases and fidget spinners for traditional, compound and sling bows at home with commonly found materials and tools. Read on to learn how.

Making a DIY PVC Archery Release and Fidget Spinner for Traditional Bows
Materials You’ll Need:
- PVC pipe and fittings
- Spray paint
- Sandpaper
- Drill and drill bits
- Metal eyelet screws
- Paracord
- Thread locking adhesive
- Screwdriver
Steps:
- First, cut the PVC pipe into two pieces — one piece should be about one inch in diameter and six inches in length, and the other piece should be the same diameter but eight inches in length. These two pieces of PVC pipe will be used to make the base of your release aid.
- Next, attach the two pieces of PVC pipe together to form an “L” shape. Use PVC fittings to connect them and make sure that they are securely connected.
- Once the connection is secure, use spray paint to decorate the release aid. Make sure to cover all surfaces evenly for the best finish.
- Next, mark two points across from one another on the bottom section of the PVC pipe. These points should be one inch apart.
- Then, use a drill and corresponding drill bit size to make two holes in the pipe where you marked the points off. Make sure to only drill through one side of the pipe.
- Using the two eyelet screws you purchased, screw them into the drilled holes. Make sure that the screws are tightened securely in the pipe with a screwdriver.
- Next, wrap paracord around the base of the pipe, making sure to loop the cord securely around each eyelet. Once you have finished looping the cord, tie it off securely with a double knot.
- Finally, apply thread locking adhesive to the eyelet screws and allow the pipe to dry.
Making a Fidget Spinner for Traditional Bows
Materials You’ll Need:
- Thin sheet metal
- Aluminum foil
- Saw
- Safety glasses
- Drill
- Screws
- Nuts
Steps:
- First, lay out the sheet metal on a flat surface. Measure and mark a rectangle that is three inches in width and six inches in length.
- Then, use the saw to cut out the rectangle. Make sure to wear safety glasses while you are cutting.
- Next, fold the rectangle in half. Make sure that the edges are lined up perfectly.
- Once the sheet metal is folded, use a drill bit to mark four points at the four corners of the rectangle. Make sure that the drill bit is slightly larger than the size of the screw that you will be using.
- Then, use screws to secure the nut in place. Secure the sheet metal to the nut and make sure that it is secure.
- Next, use aluminum foil to cover the sheet metal, making sure that all the edges are covered securely. This will help protect your skin from any sharp edges that may still be present.
- Finally, paint the fidget spinner however you desire. Allow the spinner to dry completely before using it.

Making a DIY PVC Archery Release and Fidget Spinner for Traditional, Compound and Sling Bows
Hey everyone! Here’s an updated version of the PVC archery release that also doubles as a fidget spinner! This one is a little more compact than the other styles, with less extra bulk and more body where it counts. This one is good to about 50 pounds if made from PVC or something like metal (most metals harder than aluminium), tough plastic, or very dense wood.
Here’s the template : https://www.patreon.com/posts/11296845
Scale the template to the size of the bearing you are using. The material should be at least the thickness of the bearing. The thicker the release, the more draw weight it can old. This one is for a max 50 pound draw.
